19, I have a petty theft misdemeanor?

I shoplifted 2 items that totaled to $37.96. I have to pay $150 plus the payback in court. This is my first time ever shoplifting or doing anything of the sort. I have absolutely no record before hand. Will I have to do jail time? Does doing a deferred judgment take away jail time? If I plead guilty and admit I have made a mistake and show that this is my first offense ever, will I have to do jail time at all?
