Childhood movies help on remembering !?

this has been bothering me for quite sometime. but i was remembering this movie that i use to watch all the time and i loved it as a kid. only i cant remember the name of the movie, and i only remember a few parts of the movie. i LOVE movies and if i cant get the name of this movie .. i'll be upset lol. so i was wondering if anybody else knew what i was talking about. i'll describe the parts that i remembered. im not quite sure if it was anime or not. but one part i remember was there was a parade going on in the morning. then the main character, i think a boy, and his pet squirrel (i think it was a squirrel) are in this house. but the house has no floor like if it was a never ending drop. the boy is walking on the sides of the house where he wont fall, but ends up slipping. and his squirrel jumps after him and flies. another part i remember was a party going on in this magical world and the boy goes in this one room where hes not aloud to go in i think. he went in because his new friend he met in this magical world convinced him to. there is this huge door that no one is ever suppose to open because i think some sort of evil is trapped behind there. they open it and this black kinda of smokey blob takes over the kingdom/town. another part i remember was the boy is dreaming i think. hes sleeping in his bed and wakes to find some kind of magical wand or staff in his bed. the house is beginning to flood and the bed is used as some kind of boat, and there is a door at the end of the hall that is like lit behind it. the light is like a gold yellow, i think the boy is trying to get away from him because i remember him trying to get away from it. i also remember the boys new friend being in some sort of a ball shaped thing which people are going to set it off like a fire work. and i also remember the end of the movie the boy goes back to his home town parade . those are the only parts of the movie that i can clearly see in my head. if any of you know please please PLEASE tell me thanks <3
