I wasn't arrested for petty theft, no fingerprint, will it come up on background check?

I realize I did something stupid, but I wasn't arrested for it. I went to the court, and they said I could do community service and it wouldn't be on my record. I wanted to know if this is true? The lady also said something about deferred. I didn't have my fingerprint taken. I live in Texas. Will this come up on a background check?
